Department of Engineering in Florence, 15th June 2018
During the Award Ceremony of the SSE Challenge, taking place on Friday June 15th at the Department of Engineering in Florence, two student teams have been awarded an ex-aequo prize, based on the unanimous evaluation of the Committee, made of up Professors, PIN and SSE representatives.
The Winning Projects were “Deep learning techniques for real-time estimation of vertical tire loads” presented by Daniele Masti and Lorenzo Vanni under the sponsorship of Professor Michele Basso and “Micchinetta – Vocal User Interface for Vending Machines” presented by Francesco Pegoraro and Luca Angioloni under the sponsorship of Professor Andrew David Bagdanov.
The relatives of Marcello Angiolini, who had donated an extraordinary contribution to double the prize for the SSE Challenge – 2nd Special Edition, took part at the Award Ceremony and congratulated the winners.

To celebrate Italian National Day SSE takes part in the Concert by Maestro Karim Wasfi and his group of performers on 20th June at the Al-Mansour Theater in Baghdad.
SSE is sponsor of the integrated cultural program “Italia. Culture. Mediterraneo.”, which includes several literary, musical, artistic and cinematographic events during the course of 2018 in Iraq.
SSE believes in cultural exchange as the basis for corporate and personal growth.

SSE successfully took part in the Siemens “Reti industriali e Cyber Security: le basi della fabbrica digitale” Workshop with interesting contributions on Industrial Cyber Security.
Andrei Popa, IIoT Program Manager, and Cristiano Tatini, Sales Manager, described by means of practical examples (case history) what strategies are necessary to ensure comprehensive protection of industrial plants from internal and external cyber-attacks. “Defense in depth” is according to the recommendations of ISA99 / IEC 62443 the leading standard for security in industrial applications.

The 2nd edition of SSE Challenge, the annual ‘challenge’ that SSE – Sirio Sistemi Elettronici Spa poses to the Magistral students of Engineering, kicks off.
The 2° edition of the Challenge is dedicated to the memory of the late Marcello Angiolini, devoted SSE employee.
The Challenge is addressed to the students of the Magistral classes of Engineering of Florence University and intends to value the commitment of those who, either individually or in a team, designed and presented during their classes a project falling into the “Industry 4.0” sector in terms of technologic transformation, innovation and industrial development potential.
The challenge is poses to the students of the School of Engineering of Florence University enrolled in the following Magistral courses: Electric Engineering and Automation; Electronic Engineering; Computer Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Telecommunications Engineering.
Given the extraordinary nature of the edition, only for year 2018 the prize up for grabs for the winning project is an award with a gross value of € 3.000.
